The Love Story of Brigitte and Josh cannot be told in a few sentences as their time together would fill the pages of a beautiful novel. You see, Brigitte and Josh have been together for thirty years and have only recently married in a simple elegant ceremony at a Registry Office in New Zealand. With their family living overseas (and they tell me because they have been together for so long) they decided on an intimate ceremony followed by dinner with close friends. Noosa was the Honeymoon destination and this is where I spent some time getting to know Brigitte and Josh to record some beautiful photos for their ‘Love Story’.
Josh is from Israel and Brigitte grew up in New Zealand by Dutch parents and then after living in Holland for 25 years… they met. After 12 years in Holland together they decided to leave for New Zealand as a lifestyle change. Brigitte, a Graphic Designer and Josh, a Chef are in hospitality and own a beachfront cafe together in Mount Maunganui (the NZ version of Noosa I am told) called Slowfish Cafe.
Brigitte and I planned the ‘Love Story’ over email prior to their arrival in Noosa. Brigitte loves looking for vintage pieces and anything french and sourced items for the shoot. The suitcase was bought from a German girl, who told Brigitte that her Grandfather travelled to NZ with the suitcase many years ago. Now this suitcase represents their journey together. The silver ringbands were purchased from an Artist in Holland at an Art Gallery where 365 silver rings were displayed hanging on nails with a small card behind them on which a message could be written when purchased…. this in turn would be the artwork when all rings were sold. The Trumpet ring set with topaz was commissioned in NZ by Jewellery Designer, Debra Fallowfield. Beautiful flowers and vases by Blooms of Noosa featuring white tulips for a little touch of Holland. The vintage books were op shop finds with the most perfect of titles – “Perfect Partners” and “The Property of a Gentleman”. The little black book featured towards the end of the shoot is an old “Torah” prayer book (first testament) in hebrew. Brigitte wanted to include this book to represent Josh’s Jewish heritage. The book was given to Brigitte and Josh by a friend of their family after meeting on a journey through Morocco five years ago in honour of his father and faith.
To Brigitte & Josh – It was an honour to meet you both and thank you for asking me to Photograph your ‘Love Story’.
Congratulations on thirty wonderful years in love!
